Surviving climate change in Afghanistan

As part of International Week in Bergen, CMI and the Norwegian Afghanistan Committee are pleased to invite you to a seminar on ‘Surviving climate change in Afghanistan’.

We have invited Najib Kakar, Geohazards Scientist at the GFZ German Research Centre for Geosciences in Potsdam Arne Strand, Senior Researcher at CMI Gry Synnevåg, Professor Emeritus at the Norwegian University of Life Sciences.

We will be discussing climate change in Afghanistan, including the evidence and possible mitigation measures, the food security impact, and the connection to migration amongst other things.

Our panel has extensive experience from Afghanistan, and will bring fresh research into the discussion, including on the impact mitigation efforts can have, how the afghan people cope and adapt to the situation, and what we as international organizations can do.

The meeting will take place physically at CMI in Bergen, but will also be streamed live to all those who cannot make it. For those who attend the meeting in Bergen, we will be serving lunch and coffee.
